Dr. Julie Carter
Associate Professor and Director of TESOL Education at D’Youville College
Dr. Julie Carter is an Associate Professor and Director of TESOL Education at D’Youville College in Buffalo, NY. Her research, funded projects, and teaching emphasize collaboration with community partners to engage culturally and linguistically diverse communities in programming and services. She is a Library of Congress Coach, through which she provides support for practicing teachers to access innovative tools for teaching literacy and social studies, particularly within under-resourced schools. Dr. Carter teaches courses in Sociolinguistics, TESOL Research Methods, and Curriculum Planning, and serves as a co-facilitator/advisor for the new campus chapter of Girls Who Code. Her research interests include teacher identities, the influence of innovative pedagogies, and the impacts of educational policy on teachers.
